Step by Step Badge making!

I started making the templates for the circular hole punch I had. It's a 5cm circle so I had to line up the template and space the seals out correctly.

I printed out the templates with the seals on and made sure it was central and perfectly aligned. I'm really happy with the quality because the word "Seal" is really clear and the circuit board background is visible.

Laminate the cut out circles and then cut around them to create the base of the badge. I found when cutting them out it was easier to put a torch light underneath so they came out neater.

I bought these badge backs at hobbycraft. They do have sticky backs on them however its not that strong so I tried two ways of hot glue. Gluing the backs to the badge (picture two) became the better way however I did try to put a layer of glue over the base to try and attach it. However it wasn't as strong.

What I would do better

I wish I could find a more sturdy way to have the badge fronts however, all the other options would not have fit into the laminator.

The glue could have been a bit cleaner, but its the minimum needed to stick it to the plastic and it does spill out the side.

After leaving them to dry they are finished. The idea of the badges was thought up in the lecture theatre. It differentiates the three teams in the crowds at the exhibition and is a good way to show our brand. I might make more badges to give out at the stalls. Its quite like my seals, its however a lot cheaper and more branded to us.

What went well

The quality of the print is better than I thought it would be. I'm also happy with how well the backs have bonded with the laminated card. They are quite sturdy and hopefully will last for the whole exhibition.

The purpose of the badges is to give out at the exhibition. If we hand them out our game will stand out as the most memorable because they can see it later on at home or at work. I might take a few too EGX and advertise our exhibition to some local companies.
