Invite Production Diary

For the exhibition I had the important task of making the invites for the whole course. This is a very important job as its what goes out to all the parents and families. Its a first impression and need to be executed properly to be successful. It also has to be a neutral design which fits all three groups. I found it very easy to slip into the Cyberseal style but I had to remember its not just my invite. Its everyone's.

I created them initially on (Microsoft Publisher, 1991) and was very pleased with the results. I exported them to be a PDF and sent them to Lizzy. However there was changes needed, so I had to recreate it all on (Adobe Photoshop, 1990). This involved me finding all the original assets and pictures to remake it. But that wasn't my only problem. The gaming pc's wont allow you to install custom fonts - which the font for the poster was. After some help with Carlie we relocated to a room with a Mac, these allow you to install fonts, then I remade it in Photoshop.

The process was slow because it was a lot of transferring and trying to remake the text. On publisher you can automatically add a drop shadow on the font. Photoshop doesn't have this so I had to just layer two versions of the text that were different colours and placed slightly apart.

Despite all this I prefer the second version and think its cleaner. The logos stand out better and the words are easier to read.

Overall I think that these invites look really professional and its something I can look at and think "I did that" and be proud.

Below I will put a before and after of both sides and talk about the changes.

The newer version has drop shadows on the logos to make them stand out from the background a bit more.

The font has the darker colour purple because on the light background its more

decipherable

Dates and times were changed to be for the parents invite rather than a general one. After this edit I also changed it to be 24hr because it looked more futuristic and fit the theme.

Everything is in considerably higher quality. You can see this especially in the wording and the background

Fonts shadows are reversed to show more depth in the wording.

Logos and wording are centered perfectly where as in the first poster they were just placed there.
