For our game logo we needed something that told something about the story. So myself and Tain (One of our artists) came up with some brief ideas we liked. None of them were perfect but that was the point of the talk; to find our what we liked and didn't like.

After the vote number 12 was the most popular (Purple tick). There wasn't really a clear second favorite of the class so to create a comparative product I took idea number 4 (Green Tick) and created another option; just in case the first logo wasn't right for our game.
I decided to create the final idea first so I could get a rough idea of what colours and linework they wanted on the main design.

This was fairly easy to create, once I had the idea on paper I was able to recreate it digitally paint it. The pros of drawing in on paper is you can really perfect it before you create it. It also gives you a better base of work for the digital art. You can change anything a lot easier on paper in my opinion.

There are different variations to appeal to different ideas for the story. Somebody mentions a bomb which is where idea 4 and 5 came from but our game is a PEGI 7 so we will have to cut that idea out.
Idea 1, 2 and 3 all go with the meteor idea the writing idea came up with. I tried it in three alternate colours too.
A orange flame being the more traditional option. The red dome to make it resemble the dooms day a bit more and the blue flame which matches our underwater theme.

Idea 6 was a last minute design where I had feedback from a few people that maybe a cracked word logo would be better. I instantly took that into consideration and made idea 6. It became the second most popular logo and people quite liked the idea.

Overall I really like this logo, If I could choose out of any of them, I'd choose 3. Only because it does match our theme and I feel it looks the most professional.

If I could re-do anything I would have tried out more variations. I feel like there could have been more colours or different cityscapes.
Logo 2 was the most popular in the vote and became the final logo idea quite quickly. I took the dome from the first drawing and put it on the bottom. it was quite easy then to redraw the same skyline but change the colours. I made sure to take chunks out of buildings as well as break some things to show the damage done. The orange flame is the traditional colour but really stands out on the purple gradient background. I shaded the grey smoke to give it more depth and look more realistic. The team really liked the title on the smoke and how it stood out.

The city on the bottom represents the dome and what it is now and the city on the top is what the old world looks like. Its like a reflection of then and now; showing where they started and where it will end.

If I could change anything of this logo it would be just to perfect it more. Clean up some of the lines, change some colours. However this is a nearly perfect first draft of it. Any updated versions will be posted below.
