premiere Pro

As the marketing leader I had many jobs where video editing was required. In the past I have done tiny bits of editing here and there but never anything huge. This was a challenge to develop these skills however I quite enjoyed the editing software. I chose to use Premiere Pro which is an Adobe Programme. What I really like about the software is the simple layout aswell as logical placings of all the tools. Its quite easy to pick up the software without looking it all up.

Aswell as the interviews it became an effective and successful way to record my production diaries through 8 minute edited videos.

Below is a rough guide on how I would edit these videos and a step by step walk through of the tools I used.

Rather than have one big project I chose to make every video its own project. This way I can work on a singular one without getting confused

These are your windows, I like to have all of them open to optimise speed when editing, It means I don't have to open and close all the different windows. To import my clips I double click on the media Browser

I choose the clip I want to edit and then with the window on the left, I can cut out the clip I want to put onto the timeline. Using the key "I" and "U" to create the beginning and end of the clip. Once you've chosen the clip you want, drag it onto the timeline.

If I wanted to change the speed of the clip, which I often did for timelapses, you right click the clip on the timeline and click Speed/Duration. This then allowed you to increase or decrease the speed of the video.

If the sound needed to be louder or quieter on the clip I used the same method but the Audio Gain option. I used this to enhance peoples voices on the interviews if they were too quiet.

Adding Graphics

If I want to add titles or my evaluation screens I would choose a graphic off the tab at the top, which then appears at the side. There are many different types of graphic; credit, title, caption and nametags. I however usuaully used the titles and then added to them.

I drag the desired graphic to the timeline, on a separate layer from the clip and then I can manipulate it in the same way. I can drag the sides to make it longer and change how its animated too.

The last thing I ever do is to add more text to my screens. To do this I use the toolbar on the far left which keeps my text tool, pointer, knife tool and other ones I haven't explored. The text one allows me to edit original text or create more.
