For some of my target audience research I will be looking into our target audience and what their values and interests are. I will also look into what makes a PEGI rating correct and accurate. All information researched on (Pegi.info, 2018).

Domesday has a target audience of 12-14 year old males.

For a game to be successful they must make sure they have an appropriate target audience. In-depth research must be carried out by every team member. This allows them to create parts of the game which are more enjoyable and more suited for that audience. If the team are successful in this, they create a game that children and adults alike can effectively escape into. It makes a safe space, the parents know they can let their children play that game and the children can have confidence that its not going to be a scary game - Gaining trust from people and then they will buy or play future games of yours.

My target audience for this project is 12-14 year olds. This is the age where they are starting high school and therefore big changes are ahead for them. So escapism is crucial. Their values at this age are going to be relationships, friendships and popularity. They are growing up, so anything too childish won't be in their interests. We chose this age range because of 2 factors. The theme of the game is cyberpunk. Naturally cyberpunk is a very very mature theme, with factors that really bump up the PEGI rating. So we needed to be able to manipulate this theme to be viewable for a younger audience. Our PEGI may be 7 but our target audience can be anything. So we felt we could take out any violence or any swearing of the game to make it a PEGI 7 but keep the grown up and non childish aesthetic for the slightly older audience who won't want fluffy scenes and bright colours.

So to appeal to our target audience we aim to create a more grown up feel for the game. In my marketing however I will be targeting them differently. At 13, they are allowed to sign up to Facebook and Instagram. Also at this age social media is a huge influence to them. So these are my main attack points for advertising. I want to make them feel involved with the project through behind the scenes footage / pictures and keep the Instagram relevant and updated. I also plan to look into promoting the posts through the college budget which means I can look into creating a post where the reach will be substantially bigger. I will be able to customize the audience too. So I can choose younger viewers locally who have certain interests. Hopefully then promoting Domesday more effectively.
