Personal Statement:

My first draft of my personal statement was better than I thought it would be. I really struggle with writing positive words about myself so this was quite a challenge. I sent my first draft off to Carlie and it had minimal changes to make. These changes included elaborating why I wanted to go into the games industry and how my role for the next project would benefit my future.

After completing all the changes I believe I have a very successful personal statement. However when copying and pasting it from the word document to the box on UCAS it was two lines too long. I panicked majorly thinking I would have to remove something, in hopes of it still making sense. I then realized that I could make the paragraphs closer together but still read and look like different sections of the personal statement.

If I could do it all again I would make sure I paid attention to the UCAS limits, but also elaborate more into why I want to do this career. I also need to have more confidence and positivity. This is something I am working on, and being in an industry where you may have to work alone and present alone I need this confidence.

CV + Cover Letter

When it comes to writing a CV I had the advantage of already having one. My first draft of this terms CV was my original version which got me my current part time job. The only problem was it was out of date, very simple and wasn't written very well. I updated it to include my work experience at a charity shop, my part time job, my GCSE grades and my current course now. Since high school (when my CV was written) my skills and weaknesses had changed. It was nice to see how I had changed within 2 years and how what I thought my old weaknesses were have managed to change to strengths.

Again with the Cover letter, I have already written one before. When checked by Lizzy she said it was almost perfect, I only had to write about my previous work with concept art etc. This didn't take too long and I had it finished within 10 minutes.

Looking back my Cover letter and CV are my strongest points of future proof, I think. They are the parts I have the most experience in and the pieces I had to edit less.

Interview

I am quite a nervous and paranoid person. My interview for my current job was a group interview followed by a work trial - so there was no real one on one questions. I was the first to interview of the whole group and I'm glad I got it out of the way.

Looking back on the video I managed to answer every question with a sensible and valid response. I do seem to "Erm" quite a bit occasionally which is due to my nervousness. However my answers are well delivered and I don't really hesitate with any of them.

One thing I have noticed watching the video is my body language. I do cough from time to time, only because I was ill at the time. Talking with my hands is something I do quite a bit too. After looking this up, a lot of people say hand gestures are related to strong leadership skills and a sign of intelligence. Whether this is true or not, I am going for a leadership role.

If I could do the interview again, I'd would prepare myself a bit more. I didn't do much research into questions I just turned up. I need to get my nerves under control a bit more and have more confidence in general.
